Contouring, it’s now accessible for everyone and from
everywhere! Adverts, shops and magazines promote so many different
products from individual powders, creams and kits. What’s new?
I was keen to review what seems to be one of the most affordable of its type being sold. Rather than powder contour kits, which I find difficult to blend, it’s increasingly popular for high-street brands to produce cream contour kits.
Barry M has very recently launched their own ‘Contour Cream
Kit’. It includes 6 different shades, 3 of which are darker shades for contouring
and 3 lighter shades for highlighting. It also features a mirror on the inside
of the lid.
Unlike some other brands, Barry M is selling one kit to address a
wide range of skin colours. This is definitely a positive of the product! It prevents
you from purchasing a whole contour kit with shades that are all too light or all
too dark for your skin tone. So, would I recommend?
I would certainly recommend this product, not only for its
price, but it’s very easy to apply to the face and blend. If you're hoping to achieve a dark/brown contour, then this product is for you, however, if you're looking for a lighter/bronzed effect, then perhaps a different product would be more suitable, such as the Sleek Make UP Cream Contour Kit which is a very similar price. However, the easy to read
instructions on the back make this product perfect for any contouring beginners.
The art of contouring seems to be very controversial. After reading many opinions online, it is clear that some
people, including make-up artists, oppose the idea of completely altering
the shape of the face and supposedly hiding 'natural looks', while others
are keen to continue the trend which significantly involved Kim Kardashian. To
my surprise, contouring has been around since the 1500’s.
